Nachos are served everywhere across the country. But a Mexican restaurant is undoubtedly the best place to eat nachos. Whether you want them as a side dish, a snack or served as your hearty main meal, nachos hit the spot every single time.

Traditionally, nachos are covered in cheese (particularly melted cheese) and served with salsa. This popular Mexican dish dates to 1943. It is believed that Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya created the original nacho snack. The story goes that a group of American military wives at Fort Duncan traveled to Piedra Negras to shop. When they stopped at a local restaurant for food, the restaurant was already closed. Ignacio, who was the Maître D’ at the restaurant, conceived the nacho and cheese snack to serve to the wives.

The enticing nacho snack was quickly recreated and the recipe spread swiftly through the Southwest and Texas. Today, nachos come in all forms and with a myriad of ingredients, such as:

  • Ground meat,
  • Bacon,
  • Different flavors of cheese, like Cheddar, Monterrey jack and Queso Quesadilla
  • Beans,

  • Jalapeño peppers,
